The Pros and Cons of Vacation Packages

A hotel and experience package can make trip planning easier when you want the included activities. It can be less useful when the room, ticket quantities or booking conditions do not match your plans. The right choice depends on the total cost and the details of your trip, not the word package.

Advantages: fewer separate choices and a clearer starting point

A package brings a hotel stay and its listed experiences together for comparison. If you already want a particular dinner, show or attraction, you can review that combination before choosing dates and an available room. A package may offer good value, but savings are not guaranteed. Compare the same hotel, dates, room, traveler count, ticket access and cancellation conditions against booking the components separately.

Tradeoffs: less freedom to swap the included benefits

An inclusion only has value if you can use it. Check experience schedules, ticket validity, redemption instructions and admission quantities before booking. If two admissions are included for a larger party, budget for the additional tickets you need. Do not assume you can substitute a different show, menu, park or date.

Dining benefits also differ. A $100 Dining Certificate, where listed, consists of four monthly $25 discount credits with a $9.95 redemption fee and merchant restrictions; it is not a prepaid dinner. Hard Rock dinner vouchers are a separate benefit. Read the selected package rather than treating both as the same meal allowance.

Compare fees and cancellation flexibility

Look at the package total and separately disclosed property fees, parking, deposits and other trip costs. Flights, transportation and extra admissions are not included unless expressly listed. The selected hotel and offer determine cancellation conditions; consult those terms and the Refund and Cancellation Policy before paying.

Standard and Presentation offers have different commitments

The Standard package does not require a sales presentation. If an optional Presentation offer is available, review its eligibility, attendance, scheduling, hotel-confirmation and gift-delivery conditions before selecting it. A practical way to decide

• Choose a package when the actual hotel options and listed experiences fit your plans, the quantities fit your party, and you accept the booking conditions.
• Compare separate bookings when you want different activities, need different ticket access or quantities, or place a higher value on flexible cancellation.
• Ask about anything unclear before payment. A purchase is not a hotel confirmation; the stay is confirmed when a hotel confirmation is issued.
